Thats all folks!

Well that was my year in foods 1. well it was only a semester, but it seemed kinda long. Next semester (in the fall) i will be taking foods 2, so i will probably start a new page. the class was fun, making food was enjoyable, as well as eating it was. good luck to all those who take this class! thanks to Mrs. Holtgrewe for humoring me with this blog!
much love, anna.

Final meal

Menu: orange slices scrambled eggs pancakes milk The eggs were made with cheddar cheese. The oranges were cut into fourths. Here is the recipe for the pancakes:

Ingredients:
  • 2 C milk
  • 1 1/2 C rolled oats
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 C oil (may substitute in 1/2 C vanilla yogurt or use 1/4 C oil + 1/4 C vanilla yogurt)
  • 3/4 C flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp bkg powder
  • 1 tsp salt
Pour milk over oats. Let stand 2 minutes. Beat in eggs, oil & remaining ingredients. Mixture will be thin.

The meal turned out amazingly. It tasted good. It looked good. Everyone left the table full. The whole meal took about an hour to make, only because the pancakes took a long time on the griddle. Besides that, it was a pretty simple meal to make. Also shopping was easy, because we had most of the ingredients at home.

Veggie Stir Fry with Rice

The stir fry was pretty easy. Once the veggies were cut up, all you had to do was saute them, and bam! they were ready to be eaten. It was a nice meal for the family. We ate it on rice with chicken and orange slices, a hodge-podge but tasty meal!

Baked Potato

This potato was made in the microwave. It was easy enough to make, well it seemed that way, but it turned out terribly so I may have done something wrong. The top half of the potato turned out fine....but the bottom half was rock solid. My sister braved eating it, but could not finish the bottom half. I guess this is a lesson learned. Maybe in the future I should stick with making baked potatoes in the oven.

Cinnamon Rolls

I made the cinnamon rolls while still in the grains unit, I just never put it online. The cinnamon rolls made me practice my patience. There was a lot of waiting involved. After all the hard work though, the family loved the rolls, they were delicious and were gone before I could blink twice. My brother said they were 'ah-maze-ing.'
